Tax returns of public servants will be examined and published later

The public functionaries will submit tax returns by the March 31 deadline, even if the National Integrity Authority will not be functional by then, deputy head of the Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities Anatolie Zagorodnyi stated in the talk show “Place for dialogue” on the public station Radio Moldova, IPN reports.

“Even if the administration of the National Integrity Authority is not elected until then, all the public servants will submit tax returns. When the institution starts work, these statements will be verified,” said the MP.

Cristina Tarna, vice director of the National Anticorruption Center, said problems are expected to appear in the publication of income statements. “As things stand, the most optimistic forecasts show that these will be examined at the end of next summer. The administration of the National Integrity Authority is to be elected and then contests are to be announced to choose the Authority’s agents. The collectors will receive tax returns, but will not have who to submit these to initially,” she stated.

Tatiana Pashkovski, a member of the Integrity Board of the National Integrity Authority, said the Board started to work intensely on January 14. In two weeks, the regulations concerning the activity of the National Integrity Authority will be published in the Official Gazette and it will thus become possible to choose the Authority’s administration.
