Parliament adjusted the fiscal framework that applies to laden vehicles. Operators will no longer pay a fixed fee for exceeding the axle load and the maximum permissible laden weight. The tolls for the use of roads will be calculated according to the number of kilometers traveled, IPN reports.

The bill that provides for this, which was given a final reading, was drafted by a group of PAS MPs. According to the authors, the amendments to the Fiscal Code aim to ensure fair treatment for all operators applying for special transport authorizations, as well as to eliminate inequities.

The legislative changes will enter into force on the date of publication in the Official Gazette, but will be applied retroactively, starting with January 1, 2025.
