Tatiana Raducanu, a member of the Supreme Council of Magistrates who voted against the nomination of Mihai Poalelungi for a new term as president of the Supreme Court of Justice, considers this bears a part of the blame for the state of affairs in the legal system. She made such statements in the talk show “Interpol” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
“I have worked in the judicial system for 28 years and consider that the judge must have a spotless reputation, not speaking about the administration of the Supreme Court of Justice. I have a moral duty towards the other judges who want to honestly fulfill their duties and wait for changes in the system. Everyone speaks about the reformation of justice, but a fish rots from the head down,” said Tatiana Raducanu, explaining her decision not to vote for Poalelungi.
She made it clear that dubious decisions are adopted at the Supreme Court of Justice. “There are also dubious cases. There are cases when the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice quash decisions passed by other judges. I think Poalelungi bears a part of the blame for what’s going on in justice,” she stated.
Tatiana Raducanu confirmed that the political class interferes in the judicial system and said that she is for more drastic measures as regards rooting out of corruption from the system. “It is evident that some of the judges are protected. Changes should be made to the legislation as regards the appointment of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice so as to prevent political interference. We must start with the identification of the corrupt judges, who should be removed from the system,” he stated.
