Tarlev does not intend to transform Russia’s Friends organization into political party
”I do not intend to make a political party from Russia’s Friends, which aims to be an organization,” former Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, the president of the National Association of Producers of Moldova, told a news conference.
As Info-Prim Neo reports, he said that the NGO “Russia’s Friends” was created because, as he considers, the Moldovan-Russian relations must be a priority “from a number of viewpoints”.
“All the countries want to have good relations with Russia and support it, including the EU. Taking into account the historical past and our economic and social interests, we must be good friends with Russia, that’s why I accepted to be a member of the initiative group for the creation of this organization. But I consider that we must be friends with all the countries - Ukraine, Belarus, Romania, the European Union. Poland, for instance, initiated recently the project “Moldova’s Friends in the European Union”. The organization that launched the project, for which we are very grateful, is a public organization,” Tarlev said.
He said that Russia’s Friends has not been registered yet, but the initiative group has worked out its statute that will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice and the organization will be registered. It will be one of the over 4,800 nongovernmental organizations working in Moldova.
“When it is registered, we will hold the organization’s congress, will elect the management and approve the action plan. We aim to work first of all in the humanitarian sphere, to develop the human contacts,” he said.
Speaking about his relations with Vladimir Voronin, Tarlev said that Voronin is the incumbent president of the country and every citizen “appreciates and respects him”.
As to his politic future, Tarlev said that he cares a lot about his freedom, which was never enough, but as a more or less public figure, he is concerned with what will happen in Moldova and how the things will develop and by the end of autumn will probably decide what he will do and where his place is. “You will be the first to find out,” Tarlev assured the journalists.
