The National Integrity Commission (CNI) will become functional when two factors are met: the legislative one and the factor of political will, stated political analyst Anatol Taranu, head of the Strategic Researches and Political Consultancy Center “Politicon”, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. According to the analyst, the risk that the political forces may want to dominate the Commission, through the promotion of personal interests, still exists in Moldova. Anatol Taranu mentioned that there is need for well thought-out legislation, such that will keep dignitaries from eluding their duties. “The political force has always intervened, and it has always been a matter of its intentions when speaking of the subjective factor, the tendency to protect its representatives, to limit the Law’s functionality by making the Commission’s activity selective. Nevertheless, I believe there are sufficient premises for the proper functionality of this Commission. The problem lies within the fact that the Moldovan society is in its incipient phase, a fact that cannot pass unnoticed”, the analyst said. Anatol Taranu emphasized that it is still important that such a Commission, for the fight against corruption, is being created. The analyst mentioned that the issue of leadership of the CNI is still left under a question mark. Precisely this aspect has lead to the delay in the formation of the Commission. “Each of the Alliance’s fractions tries to promote its own person of trust”, the analyst pointed out. Anatol Taranu believes that the leading position will go to one of the Alliance’s components, since its parties have an upper hand. The National Integrity Commission was created by the Parliament last week. It is made up of 3 people appointed from the governing alliance, one from the opposition, and one representative of the civil society. The President and Vice-president of the Commission will be elected in one the Parliament’s following meetings.
