The President of the Parliamentary Legal Commission for Appointments and Immunities, Veronica Rosca, specified that the reason for the departure is not indicated in the resignation request. “Everyone has the right to resign without invoking a reason,” the deputy stated.

The next candidate on the PAS substitute list is the Minister of Environment, Gheorghe Hajder, however, he has declined the deputy mandate in order to continue his work in the Government. Thus, the vacant mandate goes to Roman Rosca, who holds the position of State Secretary in the Bureau of Reintegration Policies.

In a video message, Sulyok stated that he signed the law because he had “no constitutional means” to prevent it from coming into effect, although he believes that the amendment represents a blow to the rule of law and democratic values. Tamás Sulyok’s mandate will end Sunday night, and the duties of the head of state will be taken over on an interim basis Monday morning by the Speaker of the Parliament, Ágnes Forsthoffer, until the legislature elects a new head of state.

“Today I submitted my resignation from the deputy mandate. Given that the subject of my economic activity affects the image and credibility of the entire team, I cannot act otherwise,” wrote Alexandr Trubca.

The deputy maintains that his public statements on this matter remain valid and is awaiting the conclusions of the National Integrity Authority, after personally requesting a review of the situation. “It is up to the NIA to conclude the review that I myself requested and to make a decision,” he stated.

Alexandr Trubca mentioned that he will remain a member of the Action and Solidarity Party and will continue to support the party’s objective regarding the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.

The controversies arose after the deputy announced publicly about a real estate investment in a project in the Truseni commune, before the publication of a journalistic investigation on this subject. He stated that the investment is legal, does not involve public funds, and does not create a conflict of interest.

According to the data published by the National Integrity Authority, the former prime minister also declared about 13 thousand dollars obtained from the sale of financial assets held through the Robinhood Securities platform.

The declaration of wealth also shows that Alexandru Munteanu owns two agricultural lands, acquired in 2022, each with an area of 0.06 hectares, as well as a 136 square meter apartment, purchased in 2023 and valued at 677 thousand euros. At the same time, he declares a BMW 750LD car, purchased in 2021, as well as bank accounts opened in the Republic of Moldova, Romania, Italy, Ukraine, and the United States of America.

The document also includes data on financial investments in the United States, among which securities held through Robinhood Securities and US Treasury titles, as well as stakes in two companies registered in Ukraine.

Alexandru Munteanu was inaugurated as Prime Minister on October 31, 2025, at the proposal of the Action and Solidarity Party, in the context of Dorin Recean’s withdrawal. Munteanu announced his resignation from office on July 3, stating that he could no longer exercise his mandate in accordance with his principles and beliefs.

The resignation comes after, on May 29, the Permanent Bureau of the Municipal Organization PAS Chișinău withdrew its political support, citing a “behavior incompatible with the values” of the formation. The loss of the mandate is provided for both by national legislation and by the normative acts of the Gagauz autonomy. Under the Law on the Status of Persons Holding Public Dignity Offices, the mandate ends before term in the event of a final criminal conviction.

At the same time, the Law on the Special Legal Status of Gagauzia stipulates that the Bashkan’s powers end before term in the event of a criminal offence.

The Regulations of Gagauzia also provide that the governor’s mandate ends in the event of an objective impossibility to exercise the office, including in the case of serving a prison sentence.

Under the legal provisions, the duties of Bashkan are to be performed on an interim basis by the First Deputy Chairperson of the Executive Committee in Comrat. At the same time, the regional authorities are required to organise early elections for the office of governor of Gagauzia within no more than 90 days from the moment the position becomes vacant.

Contacted by IPN for clarifications regarding the termination of the mandate and possible elections for the office of Bashkan, representatives of the Central Electoral Commission did not answer the phone.

The representatives of the government say that the amendment to the law will allow the head of the NAC to serve two terms, thus ensuring the continuity of the institution’s management.

“The current leadership of the NAC has demonstrated very good performance. The best since the foundation of this institution in combating corruption and related activities. The NAC currently enjoys the confidence of the Council of Europe”, stated Andrian Cheptonar during the “Rezoomat” show on RealitateaTV.

The PAS deputy rejected criticism suggesting that the NAC could become a “political stick”, arguing that the institution operates independently and intervenes regardless of the political affiliation of the individuals concerned.

“It is important for the NAC to be efficient and to penalize anyone who commits acts of corruption. Every week we have NAC results in state institutions. It doesn’t matter who the official is and what his political affiliation is, the NAC is mandated to act. I have full confidence that it will continue at the same pace and with the same determination”, explained the PAS deputy.

Currently, according to the law, the head of the NAC is appointed by Parliament for a five-year term.

According to the regulations, the position of General Director of “Teleradio-Moldova” is filled through a public competition organized by the Supervisory Board. The competition takes place in two stages – the preselection of files and the interview of candidates – and the selection is transparent, based on merit.

Daniel Mititelu’s candidacy was submitted to the Parliament following a public competition in which 10 people participated. Out of these, eight were admitted to the interview stage, and following the evaluation, Mititelu obtained the highest score.

The parliamentary opposition has criticized the appointment of the new ANRE director. The deputy of the Political Party Our Party, Constantin Cuiumjiuc, stated that when key positions are filled by people based on relationships, the bill ends up with the citizens. In turn, the deputy of the Alternative faction, Ion Chicu, pointed out that Daniel Mititelu has not worked a day in the country’s energy sector, but he will regulate it.

According to the information presented in plenary, Daniel Mititelu has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He specializes in drilling operations management, team coordination and cost optimization. Throughout his career, he has held leadership positions in international projects carried out in the Middle East.

The appointment of Daniel Mititelu as a member of ANRE comes after the expiration of Violina Șpac’s term and will come into effect on May 11. The ANRE Board of Directors is composed of five directors. According to the legislation, they are appointed by the Parliament with the vote of the majority of elected deputies.
