The positive dynamics of Moldovan-French relations were also noted in the discussions. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the facility applies to drivers who hold category B licenses, for cars with less than 10 seats and a total weight of up to 3.5 tons, issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova after January 1, 2020.

“This possibility becomes reality after France has completed the internal procedures necessary for the entry into force of the Bilateral Agreement on the reciprocal exchange of driving licenses, signed by the governments of the Republic of Moldova and the French Republic,” the statement said.

The authorities mention that the agreement, signed in Paris on July 12, 2024, significantly simplifies the lives of Moldovans in France, eliminating the costs and time associated with taking new driving tests.

Moldova has similar agreements with Greece, Turkey, Lithuania, Italy, Albania, Spain, and Latvia. Also, negotiations are being conducted with Ireland.
