Victor Timbaliuc mentioned that the sanitation works of public spaces and courtyards of residential buildings, including playgrounds and sports fields, will be organized daily. Also, platforms for the collection of household waste, public transport waiting stations will be cleaned, and trash bins will be emptied.

In these activities, around 400 people will be involved, and on Sundays – approximately 100. For the removal of plant waste and construction debris, 35 means of transport will be used, and to facilitate the work, 15 Avant mini-loaders will be used.

Concurrently with manual sanitation, mechanized cleaning of the main and secondary arteries will also be carried out, with the help of Hako machinery and vacuum cleaners attachable to tractors. These works will be performed by 20 units, both during the day and at night.

Collective requests – a priority

The interim head of DGLCA, Victor Timbaliuc, stated that the department carries out maintenance and repair work in residential buildings according to the annual schedule, and the collective requests of tenants remain a priority. In recent years, the City Hall of Chisinau has intervened at over 2 thousand addresses at the request of citizens.

The priority of the direction is represented by the damaged roofs, the outdated engineering networks in basements, and the windows in the staircases of the buildings. Also, interventions are made for the arrangement of playgrounds and fitness areas in courtyards. Victor Timbaliuc mentioned that the residents’ requests remain constant from year to year, and DGLCA acts to respond to as many requests as possible, taking into account the annual plan, the available budget, and the needs of the tenants.

According to him, all the works scheduled in the previous years have been completed. Over half of the projects started in 2025 have already been concluded, and the rest will be finalized throughout this year. Last year, the tenants requested the arrangement of playgrounds, sidewalks, fitness grounds, and parking lots. For 2026, the requests are being collected, and the intervention plan will be coordinated and made public.

Carrying out the works

The interim head of the DGLCA stated that, although the municipality operates with a provisional budget, the intervention capacity and available funds remain unchanged.

The works are carried out by economic agents selected through open public auction, and DGLCA specialists monitor their quality. In case of non-conformities, the economic agents are obliged to immediately remedy the problems. Also, the department requests that, when preparing the specifications, the quality certificates for the materials used be presented.

At the same time, annual plans are made for the current repair and maintenance work of the housing stock, depending on the needs of the city. The authorities appeal to tenants to protect the investments made, as rehabilitated objects are often vandalized and require repeated interventions.

Victor Timbaliuc also stated that, until 2020, the courtyards of the blocks, playgrounds, and many other public spaces in Chișinău were in a deplorable state. Gradually, in response to the residents’ requests, interventions began at addresses that had been waiting for rehabilitation for years, and today these public areas are considered a pride for the city. The General Directorate for Housing and Community Facilities intervened on sidewalks, in public transport waiting stations, and courtyards, to maintain the safety of both vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The GDHCF warns citizens that, due to the recent rain and sleet, a layer of ice has formed under the snow, increasing the risks for pedestrians and drivers.

The City Hall of Chisinau announces that the public transport circulation has been fully restored in the city, and in the suburbs it is largely running according to schedule. The only changes are two temporary reroutes: the trolleybus route 37 “Station – Bubuieci commune” and the bus route 24 “Tighina street – Colonita village”.
