Switzerland-Moldova economic cooperation to be discussed in Chisinau
The Moldovan-Swiss joint commission on economic co-operation is to meet on April 3, 2007 in Chisinau. This is to be the 3rd meeting of the commission and the subjects to be discussed are attraction of investments, exchange of trade between the two states as well as the technical assistance Moldova is benefiting at the moment.
The head of the Swiss delegation will be Monika Ruhl Burzi, ambassador and member of the Secretariat for Economic Affairs, concurrently serving as chair of the joint commission.
In 2006 the volume of Moldovan exports to the Swiss market constituted USD 14.2 mln and marked an increase by 91.8% compared with 2005. This increase was mainly due to redirection of the exports of vegetables, textiles, food products, etc.
At the same time, in 2006 the amount of imported goods from Switzerland to Moldova constituted USD 17.2 mln and has increased by 21.1% against 2005.
