After the authorities decided to cease operation of swimming polls from August 1, Prime Minister Ion Chicu said the decision will be reviewed in a week. According to him, the pools will be inspected during the next few days and a decision as to the reopening will be taken following discussions with the managers, IPN reports.
After the meeting of senior state officials, Premier Chicu said the epidemiological situation was one of the discussed subjects. The trends are negative. The number of infections with the novel coronavirus has gone up for the second week. Therefore, the authorities have to maintain the restrictions and the state of public health emergency.
He noted that the evolution will be analyzed. If need be, measures will be taken to diminish the risks. Specialists this week will once again assess the situation at places of recreation and will discuss with the managers so as to make sure that the epidemiological measures are respected. As a result of these assessments, the opportunity of reopening swimming pools will be considered, if the epidemiological situation permits.
By the decision of the National Extraordinary Commission, the swimming pools were closed on August 1 for the period of the state of public health emergency. According to the Ministry of Health, Moldova so far has got over 25,000 confirmed infections with the novel coronavirus. 791 infected people lost the battle with COVID-19.
