Dancers and craftsmen will create a holiday atmosphere at the sixth Ethno-Folkloric Festival “Sweet Acacia Flower” that opened in Valeni, Cahul, on May 19.
Contacted by IPN, Svetlana Lazar, director of the National Association of Rural, Ecological and Cultural Tourism “ANTREC Moldova”, which is the co-organizer of the event, said that this year the festival will be national. Artistic groups from the neighboring countries - Romania and Ukraine - took part in the festival the previous years, but now they couldn’t come because a number of cultural events coincided.
The festival’s program includes a show of folk clothes, the Romanian round dance, where dancing ensembles from Cahul district will showcase their abilities, and a folk music concert. Svetlana Lazar also said that the cultural activities are organized in a picturesque area. Before reaching the destination, the participants go through an acacia forest that is always in bloom when the festival takes place. The event is timed to coincide with the blooming period and there is no fixed date for it.
The distance from Chisinau to Valeni is 200 km.
