Swedish Embassy in Chisinau inaugurated

The Kingdom of Sweden has opened an embassy in Chisinau, Info-Prim Neo reports. So far, the relations between Sweden and Moldova were maintained through the Embassy of Sweden in Bucharest and the Section for Cooperation and Political Relations based in Chisinau. In the inaugural ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Iurie Leanca said the Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau will politically contribute to the development of trade between the two countries and to a better understanding of the problems. Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, who came to Chisinau to take part in the third informal meeting of the Group for the European Action of Moldova, said Moldova is an important partner of his country and the Swedish Government's decision to open an embassy in Chisinau proves this. Ambassador of Sweden to Chisinau Ingrid Tersman said the opening of the embassy is an important stage in the relations between the two states, which will allow developing the bilateral dialogue in economy, education, culture and other important sectors. The event was attended by Moldova's Acting President Mihai Ghimpu, statesmen, MPs and representatives of embassies working in Chisinau. The Embassy of Sweden will not issue visas. They can be obtained as until now at the Common Visa Issuing Center opened at the Hungarian Embassy in Chisinau on April 25, 2007.
