Sweden adopts new cooperation strategy for Moldova
The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) will continue implementing in Moldova different projects in the social field, on the basis of a new strategy for cooperation with Moldova, recently approved by the Government in Stockholm. According to the document, the assistance for Moldova will focus on three main fields: at ensuring a good government, improving the competitiveness in rural sector, using more efficiently the energy resources.
The Agency’s Director-General Maria Norrfalk gave assurances in this respect during the meeting with President Vladimir Voronin, as part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden.
According to the presidential press service, the head of state mentioned that, by means of its activities in Moldova, SIDA actively contributed to getting the two states closer. Voronin displayed Chisinau’s increased interest in maintaining and extending SIDA’s activity in Moldova and continuing the implementation of projects in the fields of social assistance, health protection, environment protection, the completion of which proved effeciency. Over the last year, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency was one of the best partners of Moldova as concerns the achievement of such projects, head of state emphasized.
SIDA is a governmental agency that provides assistance to about 120 countries in the world in such fields as economic growth, education and health, environment protection etc.
