Svetlana Saenko will receive 120,000 lei for medal won in Baku

Wrestler Svetlana Saenko is the first Moldovan athlete who won a medal at the European Olympic Games in Baku. She won bronze in the 75 kg class.

Owing to this success, Saenko will receive 120,000 lei from the state. Coach Victor Peicov’s student played four matches in Baku. She suffered only one defeat, to the athlete who later won silver - Ecaterina Bukina of Russia. In the match for the third place, Saenko beat Turkey’s Adar Yasemin 10-3 after she was led by 0-2.

“I’m very happy because I know that this medal was expected. Now I hope I will qualify for the third Olympiad in my career,” Svetlana Saenko stated for IPN.

Earlier, wrestlers Victor Ciobanu and Natalia Budu ranked fifth at the first European Olympic Games held in Baku.
