The suspected case of poliomyelitis in a one-year-old child from Chisinau wasn’t confirmed. Contacted by IPN for details, head of the Press Service of the National Public Health Agency Olesea Croitor said that a sample was taken and the result of examinations was negative.

Vladimir Bolocan, deputy head of the Chisinau General Medical and Social Assistance Division,  informed about the suspected case of poliomyelitis in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.

He noted that that poliomyelitis is a serious disease for which there is no specific treatment and vaccination is the only way to prevent it.
