Suspect arrested in case of grenade explosion in court of ex-National Bank governor

The police recently arrested a man who is suspected of exploding a grenade in the courtyard of the home of ex-governor of the National Bank of Moldova Dorin Dragutanu two months ago. Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Prosecutor General’s Office Maria Vieru said the 48-year-old man threw an offensive grenade.

The man is a resident of Chisinau who is out of work. When this was questioned by prosecutors, the man dined the accusations made against him. If he is found guilty of an act of terrorism, he will serve up to 15 years in jail.

The incident happened on February 1 this year, at about 2:40am, when Dorin Dragutanu and the members of his family were at home. Nobody was hurt in the explosion. Only elements of the external wall of the house were damaged.
