The National Agency for Energy Regulation initiated a series of unplanned inspections at oil companies to determine the cause for the absence of particular types of fuels at a number of filling stations, primarily diesel fuel, following reports about a shortage of fuels, IPN reports.
The institution said the inspectors will compare the information obtained from filling stations and the data about the supplies of oil companies so as to establish the real reasons for such developments and to assess the actions from legal viewpoint.
To facilitate the fuel supply chain logistics, the Agency, together with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, instituted a mechanism for the importers of oil products to daily provide information about the units of transport (tanks/wagons) staying in a line at state border crossing points. The obtained data will be later transmitted to the responsible institutions for identifying the fastest and most efficient measures for facilitating the transportation of oil products so that the daily balance enables to increase importer’ stores.
Farmers complained that there is a shortage of diesel fuel in Moldova and they cannot purchase fuel to cultivate the land. They said they cannot find diesel fuel to buy wholesale, while the filling stations sell diesel fuel only directly into the reservoir. Experts explain there is shortage of diesel fuel on the regional market owing to the war in Ukraine and to the fact that the fuel stores are perceived as military targets in the neighboring country.
