Surgeries performed for first time in Balti

Two laparoscopic surgeries were performed at the Balti Clinical Hospital for the first time. The machine allows minimally invasive surgeries to be carried out with the help of a small video camera and special surgical instruments. The operated patients feel well and are undergoing medical treatment for recovery, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Health, a 60-year-old woman underwent hiatal hernia surgery, and another patient, aged 36, underwent splenectomy (removal of the spleen). Both operations were performed successfully.

Laparoscopic surgeries ensure rapid recovery, reduced postoperative pain, and minimal risks of complications.

The laparoscope worth US$134,000 was offered to the Balti Hospital by the Ministry of Health. It was purchased with the financial support of foreign partners as part of the foreign assistance provided to Ukrainian refugees.
