Supreme Security Council convened to discuss exceptional situation in justice

President Maia Sandu convoked the Supreme Security Council to consider the exceptional situation in the justice system. The official came with a message today after the General Assembly of Judges put off the appointment of members to the Superior Council of Magistracy, IPN reports.

“The General Assembly of Judges postponed the appointment of members to the Superior Council of Magistracy. I announce that I will call the Supreme Security Council on Monday, ar 2pm, to discuss the exceptional situation in justice,” said President Sandu.

The General Assembly of Judges convened on Friday after a hiatus of four years. The attending judges decided to interrupt the meeting until April 28 and to formulate a joint statement until then, by which the judges would be stimulated to become involved in the amendment of the legislation. The judges also decided to put off the selection of four members of the Superior Council of Magistracy. The event involved 330 of the 425 judges of the system.
