Supreme Court upholds Dodon’s house arrest

The Supreme Court of Justice has ruled to reject Igor Dodon’s appeal to release him from house arrest.

Outside the courthouse, a group of supporters chanted “Freedom to Dodon!” The former president told them he would “fight to the bitter and”, having no intention to leave the country.

The fifth Moldovan president is under criminal investigation on a number of charges, including high treason, unjust personal enrichment and accepting illegal financing for his Socialist Party from a criminal organization.
