The Supreme Court of Justice on March 22 decided in favor of Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca in the lawsuit filed by the head of the General Social Assistance Division Eugenia Ceban over her dismissal when she reached retirement, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communiqué from the Chisinau City Hall. In 2011, by an order made by the mayor, Eugenia Ceban was informed that she was discharged from post as she reached the retirement age. She challenged the order in court and the Chisinau Court of Appeals ruled in her favor. Dorin Chirtoaca appealed the decision of the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Justice decided that the mayor did not break the law when he made the order to dismiss Eugenia Ceban. This is the first decision of the Supreme Court of Justice whereby it ruled in favor of the mayor in a case concerning the dismissal of an employee of retirement age.
