Supreme Court of Justice examines CMC decision to sell public plot without auction
The Supreme Court of Justice postponed examination of the prosecutor’s and Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca’s appeal to recognize the nullity of the decision to sell a plot of land located on Sadoveanu St to “Codru” SRL issued by the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC).
The Prosecutor General’s Office and the Mayor of Chisinau consider that the CMC exceeded its authority when it sold a plot of 1.25 hectares for 5.8 million lei without auction, for building a parking garage at a shopping center, Info-Prim Neo reports. The project aroused the dissatisfaction of many councilors, who did not vote on it
According to the head of the Legal Division of the Chisinau City Hall Dianei Gurschi, the Court of Appeals passed two judgments on this case. Examining the same evidence, two panels of judges pronounced two different decisions – one to approve the mayor’s appeal and another one to reject it. Now the case is being examined by the Supreme Court of Justice.
