The Supreme Council of Magistrates rejected the request to suspend the president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals Ion Plesca made by Anatolii Zagorodny, the chairman of the parliamentary commission of inquiry into the tragic hunting incident in the Domneasca Forest, Info-Prim Neo reports. Anatolii Zagorodnyi asked suspending Ion Plesca because he took part in the December 23 hunting in the Domneasca Forest. In its February 5 meeting, the Supreme Council of Magistrates rejected the request, arguing it wasn’t in compliance with the Law on the Status of Judge. The Council’s head Nichifor Corochii told the journalists that under the law, a judge can be suspended if he is investigated, is listed as absent without explanation by definite court decision, or he is taking part in an election campaign as a candidate for the public authority or the local public administration authority. Ion Plesca admitted that he took part in the hunting, at the invitation of his former colleague Gheorghe Cretu, who is now investigated for accidental shooting of a man during hunting. He also said that before arriving in the Domneasca Forest he didn’t know what other persons will take part in it. Among those who took part in the hunting was Valeriu Zubco, who afterward resigned from the post of prosecutor general.
