The supporters of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) and the Political Party “Our Party” (PPPN) protested around the Parliament Building until the sitting ended. They wanted to see Vlad Filat after this was deprived of parliamentary immunity by the votes of 79 MPs, at the request of the prosecutor general, IPN reports.
The protesters marched in the center of Chisinau throughout the Parliament sitting. Hundreds of people followed live the sitting at the screens set up in the square before the Parliament Building. When the meeting was over, these went behind the building to meet with Vlad Filat. “I hope that Filat will leave the Parliament Building handcuffed. We have done with this ‘client’ and will now go on. The most important thing is that the end is close,” said the leader of the PPPN Renato Usatyi.
During the protest, when Usatyi’s supporters were waiting for Vlad Filat, the leader of the PPPN received information from the whereabouts of Filat and the car in which he was to be transported. “He was handcuffed and is in the car. I can congratulate you. The ice was broken and there won’t be any problems further,” stated Usatyi.
At the news conference held when the Parliament sitting was over, Renato Usatyi said that Vlad Filat is already at the National Anticorruption Center and will be placed under arrest for 30 days the comings days. “What he says there does not matter. He was already arrested for 72 hours. Most of the MPs must stay in jail. This is not the last surprise,” he stated.
