Supporters of United Moldova Party voted for PCRM, Vladimir Turcan

The chairman of the United Moldova Party Vladimir Turcan said that his party did not pass the election threshold because their supporters voted for the PCRM in order not to allow the radical right-wing parties to return to power. According to Vladimir Turcan, the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu heads the radical right-wing forces, Info-Prim Neo reports. The election results did not meet expectations because the internal polls of the party showed the United Moldova Party enjoyed considerable support in at least ten Moldovan districts. Vladimir Turcan stressed that the people now call the party and say they are sorry for not voting for the United Moldova Party. “It is a situation from which we tried to stay away. There is no moderate force between the radical parties that could take steps to overcome the political crisis and avoid early legislative elections,” Vladimir Turcan said. In the November 28 early parliamentary elections, the United Moldova Party gained 0.5% of the ballot. The threshold for parties is 4%.
