Supporters of Renato Usatyi protest at National Anticorruption Center

Members of the Political Party “Our Party” and supporters of the party’s leader Renato Usatyi on October 24 protested in front of the National Anticorruption Center, where Usatyi was being questioned by prosecutors, IPN reports.

Several dozen people came together at the Center, chanting “Release Renato”, “Down with the thieves”, “Victory”, “We are with you”. Chisinau councilor on behalf of the “Our Party” Ilian Casu said that hundreds of people will be rallied in the center of the city if their leader is not set free. “All the people of Moldova cannot be jailed. That’s why we will protest in a large number. Renato Usatyi is innocent. We wil struggle until victory,” stated Casu.

Renato Usatyi’s supporters said the leader of the PPPN is the harshest critic of the current regime. Usatyi did a good thing by publishing the wiretaps of phone conversations between ex-Premier Vlad Filat and mayor of Orhei Ilan Shor as owing to him the people could find out the truth about those who govern the country.

The participants said they will protest until Renato Usatyi is set free and against the ‘criminal regime’.

Renato Usatyi was placed under arrest for 72 hours and is investigated as a suspect in the case started over violation of the privacy of correspondence.
