“We have the drugs and consumables we need for the period until this yearend. The non-settling of the Finance Ministry’s debt to the health facilities can lead to a crisis whose consequences will be very serious,” said acting deputy minister of health Valentina Rotaru, quoted by IPN.
The Ministry’s debt to the National Health Insurance Company represents 551 million lei. “The supplies of drugs and consumables are enough for two weeks, but there are also the personnel who deserve to be paid and the population who deserve to receive medical care of a high quality,” Valentina Rotaru told a news conference.
She also invoked the defective management in some of the hospitals. “On the one hand, we have a large supply of particular drugs, but fully lack other drugs. That’s why the patients are dissatisfied and we receive complaints from patients who purchase medicines,” said Valentina Rotaru.
According to the Ministry of Health, the hospital’s’ debts to suppliers on August 1 this year came to over 470 million lei. The national public sanitary medical institutions had the largest historical debts.
