The traditional supplement of 100 rubles (130 lei) to pensions in the Transnistrian region has been halved to 50 rubles (65 lei), under a decree signed by Transnistria's de facto leader Evgeny Shevchuk.

The decree says the move was necessary in order to reduce the gap between budget revenues and expenditure.

Evgeny Shevchuk instructed the relevant de facto authorities to identify extra 85 million rubles (109 million lei) to make the 100-ruble supplements further possible.
