Sunstrokes hit nine on Friday
Nine persons, including 2 children, were hit by sunstroke on Friday, July 20, with three of them being hospitalised.
According to Coordinating Doctor of the Emergency Centre Anatol Proca, the Emergency Service registered by 100 calls more than on the days with normal temperatures. On Friday alone, 47 persons needed medical care, of which 7 were children who got sick in the street. During these hot days, 46 teams of doctors on ambulances are working to be able to cope with the high number of persons hit by sunstroke.
Hot weather doesn’t affect people’s health alone. A wheat field covering an area of 15 hectares took fire in Vasileuti village, Rascani district. According to Officer Alexandru Cobaleanschi of the Firemen and Rescuers Service, other fields located nearby on a surface of 73 hectares were saved.
Other 150 hectares of dry grass and stubble field burnt in Cimislia district, between Ecaterinovca and Valea Perjei village. In order to stop the extension of the fire, several special emergency teams were dispatched, as well as tractors with ploughs.
