In the runoff presidential election, 328,855 electors exercised their right to vote at the 231 polling stations established abroad. The Central Election Commission said that it is the largest number of voters since the organization of polling stations abroad, IPN reports.
"On behalf of the Central Election Commission, we send a message of gratitude to our voters who mobilized in such a large number to exercise their right to vote. We thank the authorities of the countries that allowed the election to be held on their territory, but also the electoral officials of the diplomatic service and the members of the diaspora, who, all together, ensured the smooth conduct of the election abroad," CEC chairwoman Angelica Caraman said at a press briefing.
According to CEC data, the highest voter turnout was recorded at the following polling stations abroad:
38/194 - Moscow 1 (consular section of the embassy), Russian Federation: 4,999 voters;
38/195 - Moscow 2 (consular section of the embassy), Russian Federation: 4,999 voters;
38/100 - Brescia, Italian Republic: 4,463 voters;
38/178 - Bucharest 1 (embassy), Romania: 4,433 voters;
38/110 - Italian Republic, Padua: 4,289 voters;
38/033 - French Republic, Paris 8 (Livry-Gargan): 4,012 voters;
38/116 - Italian Republic, Vicenza: 3,673 voters;
38/036 - French Republic, Villeneuve-Saint-Georges 1: 3,652 voters;
38/112 - Italian Republic, Venice (Mestre) 1: 3,632 voters;
38/114 - Italian Republic, Verona 1: 3,558 voters.
According to the preliminary results, about 83% of the electors abroad voted for Maia Sandu, and about 17% – for Alexandr Stoainoglo.
Of the total number of votes, Maia Sandu won 55.41%, and Alexandr Stoianoglo – 44.59%.
