Sunday fires claimed four lives
Fires killed at least four persons across Moldova on Sunday, December 14.
The youngest victim was a 27-year-old man who died inside a guard booth at a building site on Chisinau's outskirts as the structure caught fire. Arriving at the scene, the fire crew also discovered an unconscious woman who was admitted to hospital for burns treatment. Both identities are being determined. According to preliminary investigations, the fire was caused by a defective heating appliance inside the booth.
The body of a 79-year-old woman was found in her burned home in Drochia district, and the cause of the fire was apparently the same as in the previous case.
Elsewhere, two men, ages 45 and 49, were found dead in separate incidents associated with reckless smoking indoors.
A total of 13 fires were reported on Sunday in Moldova.
