Works to modernize the Summer Theater in the Chisinau Park “Valea Morilor” are underway. These are performed in the area of the amphitheater and include the taking away of the old wooden seats that are seriously damaged.
According to the mayor of the capital city Ion Ceban, there will be repaired and installed reinforced concrete poles and new seats will be set up there. Two new rows of seats will be installed additionally.
This way, the seating capacity of the Summer Theater will be of about 7,000 and this will remain the largest open-air threaten in Europe. Earlier, the theater’s capacity was of 6,000 seats. “Later, we will identify financial resources to also repair the stage of the Summer Theater in the Park “Valea Morilor”,” stated the mayor.
Contacted by IPN for details, the head of Centru district Vlad Hîncu said the works are performed on the first floor only and the benches and paving are being replaced. The works will last for 60 days and the Theater will remain closed in the period.
A sum of 6 million lei was allocated for the renovation works.
