Summer school – beam of hope in life of children infected or affected by HIV/AIDS
15 infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, together with their parents, grandparents or custodians will spend ten days at a summer school in the camp “Dumbrava Alba” near the town of Balti. The summer school is organized by from August 9 to 19 by the Center for Health Policies and Analyses (the PAS Center) in cooperation with the Young Trainers Associations from Moldova.
Stefan Savin, a program coordinator of the Center, has specified for Info-Prim Neo that the summer school is offered not only to children infected with HIV/AIDS, but also to children in whose families there are infected adults. To select the participants, the Center sent letters to NGOs dealing with the issue.
All the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to take part in informing workshops, team work for social adaption and integration, exchange of experience with the members of the group and trainers. Specialists as teachers, educators, psychologists and physicians will be involved in the process.
However, the children will be let to have fun and play. “We do not want to remind these children they are infected with HIV/AIDS. We just want to bring them a beam of light in life,”Stefan Savin said.
The project is financially supported by the Global Fund of fighting AIDS, TB and malaria.
