The persuasion or intentional facilitation of suicide, including through electronic communications networks, that results in suicide will be punished with two to five years in jail. Parliament on July 26 adopted amendments and supplements to the Penal Code in the final reading, IPN reports.
Under the bill, the persuasion or intentional facilitation of suicide of a minor or a person who is financially dependent on the culprit will be punished with five to nine years in jail, while of a minor under 14 or two or more persons with nine to 12 years behind bars.
A new article on the public justification of suicide was added to the Penal Code. Thus, those who will disseminate messages about the recognition of suicide as just and that is supported and should be followed will be penalized with 180 to 240 hours of community service or up to four years in prison.
The cruel treatment or torture of animals that results in mutilation or death will be punished with a fine of 25,000 lei to 37,500 lei or 100 to 180 hours of community service, or up to a year in jail. The same fact committed in public, in the presence of minors or by sadistic methods, will be punished with a fine of 37,500 to 67,500 lei or 180 to 240 hours of community service or with one two three years in jail.
Under the new amendments, the transmission of banned objects or substances to detainees will be punished with a fine of 25,000 lei to 30,000 lei or 80 to 180 hours of community service, or up to six years in jail. The hidden transmission of alcohol, drugs and ethnobotanics to detainees will be penalized with a fine of 37,500 lei to 50,000 lei or with two to four years in jail, while the hidden transmission of arms, explosives, toxic or radioactive substance with three to five years in jail.
