Suicide inducement to be punished criminally in Transnistria

Criminal punishment for inducing someone to commit suicide is introduced by amendments to the Transnistrian penal code that were passed in two readings, IPN reports, quoting the Transnistrian press.

According to the authors of the bill, the legislative gap that left those who persuade other persons to commit suicide unpunished was thus filled. It is mainly about minors and their involvement in the online “death game” where moderators entrust different tasks to the participants, with suicide being the last. A jail term of eight years is the harshest punishment for such actions.

The Penal Code of the Republic of Moldova stipulates jail terms of two to six years for making a minor or a person who is financially or other way dependent on the person to blame to commit suicide by behaving very cruelly towards them.
