The replacement of the water meters by the supplier in the municipality of Chisinau may lead to a high charge for a cubic meter of water, SA Apa-Canal Chisinau director general Constantin Becciev said Monday, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. The director said that different interpretations appeared in the press after the intention of substituting the type A and B water meters with higher precision meters type C and D was made public. According to Constantin Becciev, a distinct additional tariff should be included in the water charge for the water supplier to be able to replace the meters. “The water charge is now 8.06 lei for a cubic meter, but it will double if we include the costs related to the replacement process,” said the company’s director. He also said that the losses sustained by the water supplier total millions of lei a year and this is because 95% of the consumers have low-precision water meters.
