Sturza about Gaburici’s demands: It is an attempt to improve image

“It is a desperate attempt by a man who wants to improve his image with the general public,” former Prime Minister Ion Sturza said, referring to Premier Chiril Gaburici’s announcement that he will resign if decision makers of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Bank and the National Commission for Financial Markets are not dismissed. In an interview for Radio Free Europe, the ex-Premier said this game by the current Prime Minister is very awkward and improper, IPN reports.

“As I said on February 18, he has serious integrity problems that he should clarify and these problems are related not only to his false documents, but also to his businesses, including those run in parallel with the official ones, and to the relations with his business partners. He was profoundly unconscious when he accepted the post of Prime Minister, knowing he will be challenged if not by the Moldovan justice then by the public opinion, at least by those who understand what this means,” stated Ion Sturza.

Asked who would vote for the dismissal of the current Government and for a new Cabinet, Ion Sturza said the dismissal must not be necessarily voted, if the Premier announces his resignation. “I think that if he has slight common sense, he should resign immediately, next week. The Cabinet can be now dismissed by a majority of votes in Parliament, by the center-right parties, by Iurie Leanca and his colleague. To avoid this struggle for posts and control, a technocratic Cabinet with specialists in different areas should be voted in,” stated Sturza.

The former Premier also said that after the local elections everyone will withdraw behind their shields, but the results will most probably be shocking at internal and external level too, including in large cities.
