Prime Minister Iurie Leanca proposed that the Moldovan young people should study in Romania for only half a year and then should return to the country. The proposal was discussed with the Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta in an official meeting in Bucharest earlier this week, IPN reports.
“The Romanian Government offers us scholarships, but they have certain negative effects on Moldova. Most of those who go to study in Romania do not return. I suggested the Erasmus program to Prime Minister Victor Ponta and his reaction was positive,” Iurie Leanca said in a program on Radio Moldova.
Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility program in higher education promoted by the European Union, which envisions educational formation at international level.
For the 2013-2014 academic year, the Romanian Government provided 5,500 scholarships for Moldovans who can study in Romania for two to six years, depending on the university year, faculty and specialization.
