Given the forecast weather, the students all over the country will not go to school on January 25 and will return to classes on January 28. The information was communicated in the meeting of the Commission for Emergencies that was called by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, IPN reports.
Acting director of the State Hydrometeorological Service Violeta Balan said it will be cloudy on January 25 and there will be heavy mixed precipitation in parts, Ice will form on the roads. Daytime temperatures will oscillate between 0 and – 5 degrees Celsius. Starting with January 26 and 27, the temperatures will rise, but will then fall again in parts.
Mihail Harabagiu, head of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies, noted there are no impassable roads, but the ice hampers movement on roads in Cahul district. Particular road sections were closed to traffic so as to remove the snow. Rescuers helped tow away units of transport that got stuck or skidded off the road.
Anatol Usatyi, secretary of state at the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, said they travel in winter-weather conditions on most of the roads in the country. Movement is more difficult in southern Moldova, on the R-34 Hâncești-Leova-Cantemir-Cahul-Giurgiulești road and on the M-3 Vulcănești-Cahul-Taraclia road.
Secretary general of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Igor Șarov stated the routes of ten school buses in southern Moldova were suspended in connection with the weather. Asa result, 510 students could not get to classes.
Pavel Filip instructed the General Inspectorate for Emergencies to intervene immediately if the access to localities is blocked so as to provide the people with food products and medical assistance where need be. All the institutions, in particular the medical ones, will be informed by a circular about the risk of interruptions in the supply of power so as to prepare generators.
