Students to compete in military-sports events
About 90 children will take part in different sports and creative competitions within the 21st Festival of Friendship, Creativity and Sport, which will take place in Veverita village of Ungheni district during May 4-6.
Salavat Jdanov, head of “Clipa Siderala” Foundation, has told Info-Prim Neo that students of Chisinau and rural boarding schools and high schools as well as children from Ukraine will be taking part in the contests. There will be 16 teams of contestants aged between 13 and 16.
The program of the festival includes time-trial military-sports competitions like assembling and disassembling of AKM pistols, putting on military protective clothing and anti-gas mask and military relay races. Traffic Police officers will test the participants' knowledge of the traffic rules and how to give first aid to injured persons.
One of the three days will be dedicated to games and contests concerning environment protection. They are designed to cultivate the love for nature in children. “The place where the festival will take place is one of the most picturesque in Moldova,” said Salavat Jdanov.
All the teams will be awarded diplomas and prizes like bicycles, balls for football and volleyball, tennis rackets and school supplies. The winning team will receive the Transmissible Cup of the National Olympic Committee of Moldova.
The festival's partners include the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Youth and Sport, the Ministry of Health, the National Olympic Committee, and the Outdoor Leadership Center.
The Festival of Friendship, Creativity and Sport was launched in 1989.
