Students proficient in Romanian awarded

The students who won a national Romanian language contest entitled “Our language is a treasure” were awarded in a festive meeting in the Government Building on March 16. The participants in the contest promoted the correct speaking of Romanian trough short films made by them, IPN reports.

Olivia Melnic, Ruxanda Tcaci and Otilia Melnic, of the secondary school “Emil Loteanu” of Clocusna village of Ocnita district, won the top place among fifth-eighth graders. The students from Tipala, Ialoveni were the best among ninth-twelfth graders. Winner Ana Castravet said that by their film they wanted to transmit the message that proficiency in the Romanian language contributes to integration into society and it is the duty of the young generation to promote correct speaking and writing of Romanian.

Minister of Education Corina Fusu said the attitude to the Romanian language in schools and in society should be improved. This is the mission of the Romanian language and literature teachers.

Attending the event, Romania’s Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita said we live and work in the same spiritual, language and history community. As to the participants in the contest, he said these are valuable persons who will definitely take care of the destiny of this beautiful country. “It is important to together act further so as not to forget who we are,” stated the diplomat.

The first edition of the national contest “Our language is a treasure” involved 1,000 school students, including from the Transnistrian region. The competition is organized by the Ministry of Education.
