Students, parents and teachers will be able to assess textbooks’ content

The textbooks will be assessed. The Ministry of Education launched an initiative to appraise all the textbooks entitled “I want good textbooks” by creating an online platform that will enable the students, parents and teachers to state their opinions on the content of the texts, IPN reports.

The initiative is aimed at increasing the quality of textbooks. The assessment will be carried out in three stages. At the first stage, there will be assessed 34 book titles that are to be reedited in 2017. For the purpose, the Ministry is distributing standard questionnaires to a representative number of teachers in all the districts. “At the next stages, students, parents and other teachers than those selected by the education divisions at the first stage will pronounce on the quality of the textbooks through an online questionnaire. At the end, groups of three-five experts will produce an analysis report on the quality of each textbook and will bring together the submitted proposals. The final reports will be transmitted to publishing houses,” the Ministry says in a press release.

The platform is available in Romanian and Russian. The online questionnaires can be filled out until October 19.
