Students of vocational schools could spend more time at enterprises

The Chamber of Trade and Industry will submit a proposal to make the professional education system dual to the Prime Minister’s Economic Council. This way, the students will spend the largest part of the academic year at enterprises, where they could put into practice the gained knowledge, IPN reports.

Chamber of Trade and Industry deputy chairman Mihai Balba said the dual vocational education is a priority of the Chamber. The students will spend 70% of the studying time at enterprises and 30% in vocational schools. The initiative is a response to complaints by business entities about the lack of skilled labor force and to the upward trend in the migration of Moldovan young people who choose to go abroad to work.

“We do not want two parallel lines where there is no connection between vocational schools and the environment. During the next few weeks, we will propose this initiative to the Prime Minister’s Economic Council and expect that a relevant Government decision will be approved,” stated Mihai Balba.
