More than two weeks after the fire, the students of “Liviu Deleanu” High School returned to their classrooms. Andrei Pavaloi, deputy head of the General Education, Youth and Sports Division of Chisinau, said the students will receive takeout food because the meal cannot be served at the canteen for the time being. IPN reports.
“Taking into account that the dining room suffered as well, during the next period the children will receive takeaout food, as the children did while they were at home. The children received takeout food from the economic agent supplying this institution. For the next two to three weeks, takeout food will continue being supplied. The menu was approved by the Public Health Center. We will strive to bring in order all spaces as quickly as possible so that the food safety of children is at the highest level,” Andrei Pavaloi said in the ordinary meeting of officials of municipal services.
He noted that during two weeks, a series of measures were taken for the students to return to classes in safe conditions. All rooms were ventilated, the wiring was repaired. The walls were cleaned all over the perimeter. Current painting and sanitation works were carried out in the spaces affected by the fire.
Access to the administrative spaces, which were most seriously affected, was blocked. Extensive repair works are to be carried out there.
The fire broke out on April 5 in the basement of the educational institution. As a result, about 1,900 people were evacuated. No one was hurt. After the fire, the students learned online. Following examinations carried out on the spot, employees of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations came to the conclusion that the violation of fire safety rules when performing electric welding works is the most likely cause of fire.
