Students of four schools study German interactively

Students of four Moldovan schools study German in an interactive way within the framework of the project DeutschMobil that was initiated by the Embassy of Germany. The students will also be guided by teachers of the German Cultural Center Akzente, who will present linguistic animations to them. The students of the Theoretical Lyceum “Onisifor Ghibu” of Chisinau were the first to test the animations, IPN reports.

The Lyceum’s director Elena Cernei said it is good to know more languages, especially German, as this is one of the most spoken languages in Europe. This year, as from September 1, five classes of the fifth grade, with a total of 150 students, and 60 students of the tenth grade started to study German. This way, four foreign languages are studied at the Lyceum “Onisifor Ghibu”, namely English, French, Russian and German.

Deputy Head of the Embassy of Germany in Moldova Florian Seitz stated the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau launched the project DeutschMobil two years ago, piloting it first as German language courses and now as an interactive discipline. The project aims to increase the number of students who study German in Moldova. “German is no a difficult language. It is a pleasure to learn German when the students and teachers are motivated,” stated Florian Seitz, adding when it is taught interactively and with joy, everything becomes more accessible and attractive.

Director of the German Cultural Center Akzente Corina Gîrla said the schools as part of this project will be offered linguistic animations and sets of textbooks adjusted to age particularities. Their content complies with the European framework on languages. The center also stages information sessions for teachers, students and parents on the opportunities that open up for them when they know German.

Tenth grader Maxim Kytyshchenko stated German is a difficult language for him, but this became more accessible owing to his teacher. Student Cătălina Balan said German is a very interesting language that she chose to study alongside English. Mădălina Croitoru noted German is one of her favorite languages and if more people knew this language, it would be much easier for them to cope.

Besides the Lyceum “Onisifor Ghibu” of Chisinau, the project DeutschMobil covers two more schools of Rybnitsa and one school of Vulcănești. The schools were provided with teaching aids to the value of €4,000.
