The students of Chisinau primary and secondary schools and lyceums, including art schools, will have a day off on Monday, November 27, while the kindergartens will work, as the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided on Sunday evening. Decisions about the program of the rest of the educational institutions of the country will be taken by the local public authorities, IPN reports.

The Chisinau City Hall said that each educational institution will individually decide when make-up classes will be held during the year. Its services will continue cleaning the streets non-stop, primarily the main arteries and sidewalks, the access ways to kindergartens, medical and social institutions.

The Ministry of Education and Research recommends the local public authorities to consider suspending the educational process in localities where the access to educational institutions is hampered or impossible.

The Ministry also asked to additionally examine the school transport and to ask the General Police Inspectorate for assistance in safety transporting children.

“The schedule of make-up classes will be decided by the local/municipal authorities in charge. The Ministry notes that the security of students and educational system employees should remain a priority in any conditions,” the institution stated in a press release.

It has snowed heavily all over Moldova, primarily in the central and southern districts, since Saturday night and the high winds formed snow piles everywhere, blocking road sections. Over 150 localities experienced power outages. A yellow and orange code warning for the period was issued. The State Weather Service extended the yellow code advisory for high winds until Monday noon. The wind is expected to intensify to 20 m/s.
