Students from the eight Romanian-language schools in the Transnistrian region are back in the classroom. After more than a month of online studies, about 1700 pupils are back to classes with physical attendance, says Education Minister Dan Perciun during a program on Radio Chisinau. The education chief says the authorities are preparing for all scenarios, IPN reports.
"Students from all classes have returned to lessons. Those from 9th and 12th grades in certain institutions were attending because they have exams and it was important to continue the process in a physical format," Dan Perciun notes.
The ministry is taking several actions to prepare these institutions for a possible worsening of the situation.
"We continue to install air conditioners. In the medium term, we are preparing the technical projects for the installation of biomass boilers so that, regardless of developments, these schools will be better prepared," the education minister added.
After the Russian Federation halted natural gas supplies to the Transnistrian region as of January 1, 2025, the study process went online. Students started returning to classrooms with the delivery of gas to the region with the support of the European Union.
