Students from Orizont High School fell ill due to adenoviral infection, ANSA

The illness of students from Orizont Theoretical High School, Ciocana branch, a week ago, was caused by an adenoviral infection. Laboratory investigations have confirmed the presence of Staphylococcus aureus and coliform bacteria in several foods, IPN reports referring to the National Food Safety Agency.

Food safety specialists have issued a prescription for the food block to carry out sanitary works such as sanitizing and disinfection of rooms, equipment and utensils.

The administration of Orizont High School informed that on September 13, the activity of the food block was stopped until the completion of the epidemiological investigation. The staff was obligated to pass medical check-up and the requirements for monitoring the health of children were toughened. Also, pest control and disinfection were performed.

On September 11 and 12, more than 100 children and teachers sought medical care from the high school medical service after feeling sick.
