Twelve school bus routes were cancelled on January 29 owing to the unfavorable weather conditions. Over 200 students in Sangerei, Drochia, Rezina, Orhei and Telenesti districts could not thus get to the district schools, IPN reports.

According to the Ministry of Education, because of the low temperatures in classrooms, the length of lessons at the secondary school in Chiscareni village of Sangerei district and at the Theoretical Lyceum “Alexandru cel Bun” in Rezina was reduced to 30-35 minutes.

The State Hydrometeorology Service issued a yellow code advisory for heavy snowfall. The eastern wind will intensify to 15-20 m/s. There will be snowstorms in parts. Ice and snowdrifts will form on the roads. On January 31, the average daytime temperature will drop by 5-7°C.
