Students at age of over 60

Forty seniors aged over 60 enrolled at the Moldova State University within the University of the Third Age program that was launched on a trial basis this year. The students have attended the free courses “Development of Digital Skills” and “Wellbeing and Intergenerational Communication” since October, IPN reports.

The authorities plan to extend the program in 2024. “We continue to receive at the Ministry requests from older persons who want to benefit from these courses. The seniors proved to be the most disciplined in attending lecturers and the University is glad to have such a contingent of students,” Minister of Labor and Social Protection Alexei Buzu stated in a conference held to sum up the results of the year.

The University of the
Third Age is promoted by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research, the UN Population Fund and the Moldova State University. In addition to this program, another program dedicated to the elderly was initiated in 2023, which will continue in 2024 and provides for the development of digital skills for at least 1,000 seniors.
